According to Pastor De Lawrence worries are troubles we pile up, which hardly ever happens but ends up ruining our time. Leo Buscaglia adds ‘Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joys’.

My pastor calls them little monsters. After the sermon today by my pastor titled -little Monsters. He spoke about worrying and honestly I learnt a thousand lessons from the word. The usual inquisitive me, got home and decided to do an in-depth study on worries. Here are some of the things I stumbled on…

1. Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere”
– Erma Bombeck

2. Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.”
– Swedish Proverb

3. If you treat every situation as a life and death matter, you’ll die a lot of times.”
– Dean Smith

4. Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.”
– Henry Ward Beecher.

Worries pile up to cause General Anxiety Disorder. It is a disease and very dangerous for our well-being. Rather than sit down worrying, get up and do something. Dale Carnegie says ‘if you can’t sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It is the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep’. In all honesty, ‘a day of worry is more exhausting than a day of work’– John Lubbock

My conclusion will be drawn from Matthew 6:27
Jesus asked ‘Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Get rid of those little monsters
