Self motivation is a vital tool in achieving anything in life including weight loss goals. It is very important to keep yourself motivated whether it is a personal or professional goals always stay motivated.
If you don’t you are likely to fall on the way.It is important because it helps us stay focus until we achieve that which we set out to. Even the most determined people can fall by the way sometimes but keeping yourself motivated helps. These are some points that may help you stay motivated.
Point 1: DON’T BE TOO UPTIGHT OR TOO HARD ON YOURSELF.
We all have those moments, times we fall; don’t beat yourself too hard, raise yourself, dust yourself and move. Before I started this weight loss journey, i tried several times and several things that just didn’t work. Somedays I fell and got so discouraged especially when i wasn’t seeing results but that did not stop me, I kept trying, I am not there yet but i am happy I have not given up yet. Try to understand that there are weak times and at such times your body is trying to say ‘you are only human’. Don’t spend time beating yourself so hard because you just ate that food you didn’t want to eat or did that thing you didn’t want to do. The most important thing is realising yourself and trying again. Keep working until you achieve your goals.
Point 2: REMIND YOURSELF OF YOUR GOALS
Any time you feel like giving up just remind yourself of why you started this journey, why you want to loose weight, what you stand to benefit from it. Always remind yourself your reasons for starting, it is important. For me, I didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t fitting into certain clothes, I was loosing confidence in myself. I didn’t think i looked smart. Yes, so each time i want to give up I remind myself that I am not there yet and that there is a lot more i can do.
Point 3: LOVE YOURSELF
A lot of times we are so selfless that we forget we owe ourselves the responsibility to love ourselves. When you love someone there’s this tendency of wanting to protect the person from harm. Why don’t we do that to ourselves? why don’t we protect oursleves enough to stay away from things that can harm us? Some of us know that doing certain things or eating certain meals isn’t healthy but we still do. Self Love is deeper than selfies so be wise.
Point 4: ELIMINATE YOUR DISTRACTIONS
In this case, our distractions may just be that sweet little thing in our fridge. So keep unhealthy meals away from you. Don’t tempt yourself when you know you will fail, infact do not tempt yourself at all. It’s not necessary.
Point 5: REWARD YOURSELF
Self reward is good. I do this always, not just for weight loss but with every other thing. Once I achieve my goals I reward myself; it could be a gift, a treat, a particular meal or just look myself in the mirror and say ‘well done Christiana, you have done well’. After all, when others achieve their goals we say well done, we even celebrate them, so why can’t we do that for ourselves?. There is no crime in celebrating yourself, so feel free to.
Point 6: HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE
No one is responsible for you but you, if you can reward yourself you should be able to hold yourself accountable. Be responsible.
Point 7: BE PATIENT
It took some of us years of bad habits to be where we are so do not expect magic to get to where you wanna be. Give yourself time and be patient.
