#20.Story Time: Looking Pregnant after a C-Section.

Hello Moms,

image.jpeg

I have had quite a good number of mommies asking me to talk about C-Section and how to care for yourself after a C-Section. With my three boys I had C-Sections, only my daughter came via vaginal delivery.  after my first c-section, I heard a lot of dos and dont’s. From don’t do anything ,to leave your body till when your baby is 6 months old, that didn’t help me at all.

I noticed that after each c-section I had terrible bloating. I remember when my son turned 6months, someone asked if I was pregnant again, I felt so embarrassed that day, I am sure a lot of you can relate with this.So let’s take steps to do something about it

Step 1: DRINK PLENTY OF WATER:

You may think this is a fad but I have proven to myself that water helps reduce bloating. Drink and keep drinking, you do not need permission from your doctor to drink water.

Step 2: EAT HEALTHY

Avoid eating for 2 or some cases 3. It is totally unnecessary, you aren’t helping yourself. Eat balanced meals, eat lots of fruits and vegetables this will help you loose weight as well.

step 3: TRY AND BREASTFEED

You have to breastfeed, apart from the benefits to your baby; you stand to gain as well. So breastfeed, it helps contract your uterus.

Step 4: DETERMINE IF WHAT YOU HAVE IS SKIN OR FAT?
You need to determine if what you have is skin or fat, most times we assume that the bulge is fat, for some women it is skin. If the skin around the belly can be pinched and skin pulled away, then the problem is not fat. The loose skin cannot be controlled through diet or exercise. Instead, it must be removed surgically. How to know if it is skin or fat, once you start exercising if your tommy still has some sagging then that should be skin stretched out during pregnancy.

Step 5: NERVE DAMAGE
Based on the Pelvic Health and Rehab, nerve damage is a common problem following a C-section. Nerves that are cut or entrapped following a C-section can result in pain during transitionary movements, such as going from a seated to a standing position, notes Pelvic Health and Rehab. Unfortunately, this pain can make it more difficult to engage in regular physical activity, which is a must when it comes to losing body fat and toning lose skin.

Step 6: PELVIC TILT

Avoid sit ups and the likes of them until your doctor gives you a go ahead, instead begin with pelvic tilting exercises. You can do this anytime, contract your abdominal muscle and use them to tilt your hips forward. You know that thing you do with your belly when you want to take a picture ‘sucking in your belly’ do it often, do it while carrying out your chaos until you find yourself not struggling with it, keep at it.

Step 7: POST NATAL GIRDLES

there are a number of good post natal girdles for C-section, so get one and start using, don’t wait too long till when your baby is much older to start looking after yourself. Start now.

Step 8: EAT LOTS OF FIBER

Fiber is good as it makes you feel full but adds no fat in your body

Step 9: PLANK

Once you go for your 6 to 8 weeks check and your doctor says you are ok. Start planking. Do  this as often as your body can go until you get use to it.

image.jpegOnce your body is fully ready, you can hit the gym but if you stick to these rules you won’t have so much work to do afterwards. GET AT IT, look after yourself, this is very important.

I hope this helps? DO NOT FORGET IT TOOK YOU 9 MONTHS TO GET THAT BODY, SO GIVE IT TIME TO RETURN BACK, DON’T FORCE YOUR BODY.

  1. Goodmorning…please can you make a meal plan to eat right after csection.because most of us dnt even know how to eat right.

  2. This is a good episose. Thanks for reaching out to women. Can u explain this ( step 4: DETERMINE IF WHAT YOU HAVE IS SKIN OR FAT) further? Is it scientifically proven? Please respond.

    1. When you have a baby, the skin on your belly stretches out, Most times people think it is fat but it’s just a sagged skin and no matter what you do that sagged skin may not be toned

    2. You do not need science to prove everything to you. You don’t need science to tell you are alive and breathing when you are. Study your body and know what works for you. A lot of moms have loosed skin not fat. Haven’t you seen slim moms with sagged or loosed skin? Not everything is fat.
